Turkey or Egypt: choose by month, budget and your child's age

Both coasts hold up for a family beach holiday. What changes is timing, transfer length, and whether the sea suits a toddler or a confident young swimmer.

This page compares the two side by side: door-to-sea hours from your departure city, entry paperwork, all-inclusive bands per month, sea temperature, kids clubs, water parks and medical access. Take the rows that fit your family, then put the numbers into the planner.

  • May to June: lower prices, quieter pools, cooler sea for small children.
  • July to August: hot and busy, so shaded kids' pools and short air-conditioned transfers matter most.
  • September to October: warm sea, good value, fewer crowds once school terms begin.

Fees that sit outside these bands

  • Entry costs. Egypt visa on arrival is about EUR 25 per adult, with children often waived; Türkiye e-visa costs nothing on a Ukrainian passport. Confirm current rules on our travel advisory and visa information page.
  • Kids club fees. Most Turkish resorts include clubs from age four. Some Egyptian resorts charge EUR 10 to 15 per child per day for supervised sessions.
  • Extra transfers. Turkish packages usually fold the airport run into the price. In Egypt, resort transfers such as Hurghada to Makadi Bay run EUR 35 to 60 per family each way.
  • Cash for tips and reef fees. Budget EUR 5 per person per day in small notes. Cards work almost everywhere, small notes do not.
